The first sanctions list approved by Poland included Russian Gazprom and a number of Russian and Belarusian oligarchs. A total of 50 legal entities and individuals.
Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said.
"The purpose of the sanctions is to limit the possibility of financing the war in Ukraine by economic entities operating on the territory of the Republic of Poland. The sanctions law applies to oligarchs doing business in Poland," Kaminski said.
The first sanctions list includes 50 items, where there are both oligarchs and companies, including Gazprom. Oligarch Vyacheslav Kantor, who owns 20% of Azot, is also subject to sanctions. Persons associated with the Lukashenko regime are also subject to restrictions. In addition, everyone who "imported coal from Donbas to Poland" is on the list.
"We will apply several types of sanctions, i.e. freezing of property, suspension from participation in tenders, and in the case of oligarchs - a ban on entry into the territory of the Republic of Poland. This is the first list, and it will be expanded," said the Minister.
Poland can take four types of measures: freezing of funds, imposed on 4 subjects, a ban on entry into the territory of Poland for oligarchs, as well as a ban on participation in public tenders, imposed on 25 subjects. The fine for participation in tenders, despite the ban, is up to 20 million zlotys.
The first list has already been published in the Polish Gazette.
In the future, appeals to the relevant services on persons who finance Russian aggression in Ukraine will be considered on a permanent basis.
"The sanctions list will certainly be expanded. The purpose of the sanctions is to limit the possibility of financing the war in Ukraine by economic entities operating on the territory of the Republic of Poland. The sanctions law applies to oligarchs doing business in Poland," the official said in a statement.
