The European Union is discussing the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to increase Ukraine's military potential. This was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
In response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the EU must bolster its defence capabilities.

"Russian frozen assets, we agreed that these assets can be used to support Ukraine," he said.
According to Borrell, they can also be used to avoid the destruction of Ukraine. He clarified that this means increasing Ukraine's military capabilities or defense technology base.
"But for this we still need an agreement of the member states, we need a common basis of agreement, a proposal for a common financial security policy, and we are still working at the initial stage to reach an agreement on this issue," he added.
