President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron plan to sign a bilateral security agreement at the Elysee Palace on Friday during the Ukrainian president's visit to Paris, France 24 reports, citing a statement from the French presidential administration.
"This agreement corresponds to the commitments made in the G7 format on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023," the Elysee Palace said.
At that time, the G7 pledged to provide Ukraine with long-term security support.
French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné said earlier that France and Ukraine are likely to sign a bilateral agreement on security commitments soon.
According to him, the French agreement will outline a framework for long-term humanitarian and financial assistance, reconstruction support, and military aid.
According to two diplomats briefed on the talks, after the signing, France will announce the allocation of 200 million euros for civilian projects by French companies.
At the same time, the agreement will not allow for specific financial commitments for arms supplies, as Paris will need to seek parliamentary approval.
