Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he called the war against Ukraine a "special" operation during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin because Russia did not declare war. Orban said this at his annual press conference in Budapest, Bloomberg reports.
"This is a military operation." There was no declaration of war between the two countries. When Russia declares war, there will be war. We should be happy that there is no declaration of war, because then there would be a general mobilization in Russia. I do not wish this to anyone," Orban said.
However, Orban noted that he would be "happy" to use the word "war" the next time he meets with Putin, if he has such a need.
At the same time, he refused to hold a bilateral meeting with the Russian president in the near future.
