US President Joe Biden said that American weapons should not be used to strike Moscow or the Kremlin, ABC reports.
Biden was asked whether American-made weapons have already been used in Russia since he authorized their use, limiting their use to areas near the Kharkiv region. The president did not give a direct answer, but made it clear that strikes against Moscow or the Kremlin would not be permitted.
“They are allowed for use near the border when they are used on the other side of the border to attack specific targets in Ukraine. We do not allow strikes 200 miles (322 km) deep into Russia, and we do not allow strikes on Moscow, on the Kremlin,” Biden said.
At the same time, the American leader responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements that the supply of weapons to strike Russia is “direct participation in the war.”
“I've known him for over 40 years. He has been bothering me for 40 years. He is not a decent man. He is a dictator, and he has to fight to keep his country and at the same time not to stop the attack. We're not talking about giving them weapons to strike at Moscow and the Kremlin, to strike right across the border, where they receive heavy fire from conventional weapons used by the Russians to enter Ukraine and kill Ukrainians,” he said.
