Following the decision of the Egyptian authorities to allow foreigners to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing, Ukrainian diplomats in the region have begun the preparatory stage of evacuating Ukrainians. This was announced by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko.
Diplomats have updated the list of those willing to leave. Currently, there are 358 people, mostly women and children.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent an official request to the parties involved to issue permits to leave the Palestinian enclave and transit through Egyptian territory. They are awaiting approval.
The diplomats also prepared documents for Ukrainians who do not have valid travel documents and booked the necessary transportation.
In addition, a group of diplomats has been formed to arrive at the border with the Gaza Strip to assist Ukrainian citizens on the spot.
According to the Egyptian side, foreigners will be allowed to leave the Gaza Strip in alphabetical order according to their citizenship.
