Israel urges Gaza residents to evacuate south ahead of expected offensive on Hamas

The Israeli Defense Forces have issued an appeal to Gaza residents to evacuate to the south for their own safety and warned that they will continue strikes against the Hamas terrorist group. This was reported by The Times of Israel.

"The IDF is calling on all civilians in Gaza City to evacuate their homes to the south for their own safety and security. The Hamas terrorist organization is waging a war against the State of Israel, and Gaza City is an area where military operations are taking place. This evacuation is for your own safety. You will only be able to return to Gaza City when a new announcement is made allowing you to do so. Do not approach the security fence with the State of Israel," the Israel Defense Forces said.

The IDF emphasizes that Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza City in tunnels under houses and in buildings inhabited by innocent civilians.

"Civilians of Gaza City, evacuate to the south for your own safety and the safety of your families and distance yourself from Hamas terrorists who are using you as human shields. In the coming days, the IDF will continue to be active in Gaza City and will make every effort to avoid harming the civilian population," the IDF emphasized.

The Times of Israel, citing a military official, writes that although the IDF warning is addressed specifically to Gaza City, it applies to all areas in the north of Gaza.

The media write that the Israeli Defense Forces published such a statement on October 12 and called on people to evacuate within 24 hours.

According to Reuters, the evacuation was proposed within 24 hours, but UN representatives believe that this is "not possible without devastating humanitarian consequences." The UN called for the order to be canceled.
