The Israeli military controls several government buildings in Gaza City that were used by Hamas militants. This is stated in a statement by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), according to The Times of Israel.
According to the military, Israel took control of the following facilities:
- the Hamas parliament;
- the militants' government complex;
- police headquarters.
In addition, the Israeli military seized the "Gaza Governor's House", which housed the offices of the military wing and the Hamas police, as well as the offices of the Hamas intelligence unit. These facilities were used to prepare for October 7.
The IDF also notes that the building of the engineering faculty of one of Gaza's universities, which previously "served as an institute for the production and development of weapons," is under control. A Hamas compound was also seized, including a training base, command center, interrogation rooms, and detention cells.
