The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has expressed the need to further regulate the issue of citizens who are considered "limitedly fit" for military service. During a national telethon, Lubinets emphasized that a citizen can be either fit or unfit for military service.
Lubinets emphasized that due to corrupt practices, in some cases, Ukrainian citizens who do not have health problems have been issued certificates of unfitness for military service. At the same time, citizens with obvious health problems were issued certificates of "limited fitness" status.
"I made a recommendation to the NSDC that the issue of limited fitness, unfit or fully fit be settled through military professions. This way, it would be clear to a citizen of Ukraine that if he is fit, but has health problems, he is fit to serve in certain troops. If a person is medically unfit to perform combat missions with a rifle in his hands on the front line, he can serve in the headquarters or as part of the missile forces," the ombudsman said.
