Hopes for return: Ombudsman expects “good news” on deported Ukrainians

Ukraine hopes for a positive development in the return of children and other citizens deported by Russia. According to the Human Rights Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, this may happen already this week.

According to official data, since the beginning of the conflict in 2014, Russia has deported tens of thousands of Ukrainian children. In particular, Ukraine has managed to identify 19,546 children who were illegally deported by Russia.

Lubinets announced “good news” regarding the possible return of Ukrainians to their homeland.

“As for intermediaries, Qatar is the most successful. I hope that this week we will hear new positive news about the return,” said the Commissioner.
