Ukraine will sue European neighbors over import ban - Bloomberg

The situation with restrictions on grain imports from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria is complicated and could have serious economic consequences for Ukraine, Bloomberg reports. In the absence of a consensus between the parties on a solution to these restrictions, going to arbitration may be an attempt to resolve the situation through a legal mechanism.

The 2014 trade agreement between Ukraine and the European Union has its own rules and dispute resolution mechanisms. If Ukraine believes that the restrictions imposed by these countries contradict the agreement, then going to arbitration may be a legitimate step to protect its interests.

"Poland is not blocking transit de jure, but de facto - there have been protests, they are increasing the time for checking our products at the border. De facto, it is a blockade," said Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine.

It is important to note that this situation is a complex political and economic problem, and resolving it may take time and diplomatic efforts. Ukraine may also try to seek a dialogue with the European Union to reach a compromise and find a joint solution that would satisfy all parties.
