Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus said that the issue of grain exports could become an obstacle for Ukraine on its way to joining the European Union, PAP reports. He emphasized the need to create appropriate tools to address this issue, arguing that without this, Poland will not support Ukraine's accession to the EU.
"If we do not create these tools today, Poland will definitely not agree to Ukraine's accession (to the European Union). Today we need to create tools because we will live longer with Ukrainian products. When Poland joined the EU, we had to fulfill the conditions. And these conditions were imposed on us very harshly. And we have to set conditions for Ukraine," the minister said.
He believes that the imposition of the Polish embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products "contributes to Ukraine's preparation for accession to the European Union."
"On the basis that exists at the moment, Polish agriculture will never win over Ukrainian agriculture. There are several hundred thousand farms there. This is a completely different agriculture, that's why our position is so strong," said Robert Telus.
