The European Parliament's relevant committees have held a meeting on Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
During the discussion, the co-reporter from the European Parliament's Budget Committee noted that the European Commission's proposal for financial support for Ukraine is based on existing EU instruments. She believes that this idea is good and important, as it will help to create dedicated funding to support Ukraine's recovery.
She also emphasizes the need to ensure that all confiscated Russian assets can be used to support Ukraine's recovery. She emphasizes that EU funding should be complementary and act as a means to encourage investors and third parties, as private and public funds may not be sufficient.
During the discussion, a large majority of the present members of the European Parliament supported the European Commission's proposal to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine until 2027.
The Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs emphasized that the deadline for submitting amendments to the draft report expires on September 6 and expressed confidence that work on this important initiative will continue.
