Lithuania wants to provide Ukraine with launchers of the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system. The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, wrote about this intention in his X.
NASAMS (National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) is a modern air defense system developed by the Norwegian-American company Kongsberg with a fire control system from Raytheon. It is designed to protect against various types of airborne threats, including airplanes, drones, and missiles.
The gift from Lithuania could be very important for Ukraine, as it will increase its defense capabilities and ability to manage its airspace. It could also serve as additional evidence of other countries' support for Ukraine in the face of geopolitical tensions in the region.
"Today in Kyiv, I told my dear friend President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Lithuania will support Ukraine until victory. Next month, Lithuania will hand over NASAMS launchers to Ukraine," Nausėda said.
Today in Kyiv I told my dear friend President @ZelenskyyUa that Lithuania will keep supporting Ukraine until victory.
