The Russian armed forces have formed an offensive group and launched attacks on the Kupyansk sector. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar on Wednesday, August 9, in Telegram.
"The enemy's goal in the Kupyansk sector is to break through the defense of our troops and go directly to Kupyansk..." she said.
Malyar noted that the intensity of hostilities and enemy attacks is high, and in some areas of the hostilities there are several changes of positions per day. She assured that the leadership and commanders of the eastern group of troops are taking the necessary measures to strengthen the defense.
In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive on the southern flank near the town of Bakhmut and are strengthening their positions on the lines they have reached. The enemy is trying to regain lost positions near Klishchiyivka and in the vicinity of Zaitseve.
In the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, according to the Deputy Minister, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue an active offensive and have individual successes in the direction of Urozhayny, Pryiutny and Verbovyi.
The enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Novokalynove, Pivnichne, Novomykhailivka and Staromayorske. These attacks were successfully repelled.
"Both in the east and in the south the enemy is currently suffering significant losses in personnel, weapons and equipment. Our defense forces have significantly reduced the enemy's offensive and defensive potential these days and are preventing them from implementing their plans," assured Hanna Malyar.
