The Lithuanian government is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine. Vilnius has already provided Kyiv with aid in the amount of almost 409 million euros.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania Arvidas Anusauskas, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reports.
On Monday, March 6, Anushauskas met with the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Pavliuk, who came to Lithuania. In particular, Pavlyuk came to share his experience about the lessons learned from the integration of paramilitary structures into the Armed Forces.
"The lessons learned in Ukraine help us purposefully develop our military capabilities. We also take a firm position to support Ukraine in every possible way, and we are preparing a new aid package for Ukraine," Anushauskas said, adding that a new aid package is currently being prepared for Kyiv.
Most of Lithuania's aid to Ukraine is military training. It is planned to train 1,600 soldiers this year. Lithuanian instructors train Ukrainians both at the national level, in Lithuania, and within the framework of the EU Training Mission and international initiatives, such as Interflex. It is also planned to develop a demining course in Lithuania in cooperation with the countries of Northern Europe.
Earlier it was reported that Latvia has already provided more than 1% of its GDP for military aid to Ukraine.
