EU ambassadors agreed to extend all economic sanctions against Russia for six months

EU ambassadors approved the extension of all economic sanctions applied by the European Union against the Russian Federation for its aggression against Ukraine for the next six months.

This was reported by Radio Svoboda correspondent Rikard Jozwiak.

"EU ambassadors have officially given the green light to extend all EU economic sanctions against Russia for another six months," he said.

We are talking about sanctions, the first of which were applied back in 2014 after Russia's first aggression against Ukraine, and were significantly expanded from February 2022 with the start of a full-scale war.

It will be recalled that in December 2022, the EU Council finally approved the ninth package of sanctions against Russia for the war against Ukraine. The preparation of the 10th package continues, it will most likely be approved before the anniversary of the full-scale war.

From unofficial comments, it is known that they are discussing additional restrictions against Russian propaganda resources and new disconnections of Russian banks from SWIFT, as well as the synchronization of sanctions against Belarus with sectoral sanctions already imposed against Russia. Poland and Lithuania call on the EU to impose sanctions against Russia's nuclear sector.
