EU ambassadors on Thursday will begin consultations on the introduction of new restrictions against Russia.
This was reported by the correspondent of Radio Liberty in Brussels, Rikard Jozwiak.
According to him, consultations between ambassadors on new EU sanctions against Russia should begin the next day, that is, on Thursday. "In the optimistic scenario, the measures should be approved next week," Jozwiak noted.
He did not specify what exactly could be included in the new package.
Recall, the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia with a partial oil embargo was approved in early June. The package agreed with difficulties because of the painful nature of the oil embargo, in particular because of the position of Hungary. Also under pressure from Budapest, Patriarch Kirill was removed from the sanctions list.
In connection with this, calls to change the principle of unanimous decision-making on foreign policy have intensified in the European Union. Such a call is contained, among other things, in a European Parliament resolution.
