The Ukrainian energy system can be stabilized and blackouts stopped by the summer, provided that the Russians do not resort to new attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko stated this in an interview with Forbes.
"The speed of recovery is related to the shelling. If there is no shelling, even with the already damaged generation, we will stabilize the system by summer," he said.
According to Galushchenko, one of the options for stabilizing the system is the import of electricity. He noted that Ukraine has already tested imports in small volumes.
"We are currently developing mechanisms that will allow us to significantly increase the import of electricity. Currently, it is 600 MW during the day, 700 MW during the night. Technically, the possibility is much greater - 1.6-2 GW," he said.
The minister noted that, in addition to the import of electricity, more air defense systems can help Ukraine.
