The Verkhovna Rada fired Venediktova

The Verkhovna Rada has dismissed Iryna Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. The decision was supported by 264 deputies.

"Servant of the people" gave for the resignation of Venediktova 198 votes. Helped her to deprive Venediktova of her position:

Verkhovna Rada dismissed Venediktova

 

In turn, the head of the faction "Servant of the People" David Arahamia said that Venediktova has been in the team "SN" since the early days, and she was delegated to the Office of the Prosecutor General from the Verkhovna Rada. However, he stressed that Venediktova remains in the team.

 

"That is why I ask you not to be guided by rumors, launched due to personnel rotations in the executive branch. Her experience will serve the state in a new place that requires reinforcement by professional managers and lawyers. We await news about personnel appointments on the diplomatic front and thank you for your work," he wrote.

 

It should be noted that on 17 July, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he dismissed Ivan Bakanov from the post of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and Irina Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General.

 

After which Zelensky explained that the decrees on Bakanov and Venediktova were related to the mass facts of state treason on the part of SSU and prosecutor's office employees.

 

Already on 19 July the head of state submitted to the Rada a draft resolution on the dismissal of Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova.

 

Iryna Venediktova was born on September 21, 1978 in Kharkiv. She graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. She studied international commercial arbitration at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

 

In the 2019 parliamentary elections she was elected as a people's deputy from the party Sluzhba Naroda, No. 3 on the list. Chairman of the Committee on Legal Policy in the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation.

 

On December 27, 2019, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Irina Venediktova as interim director of the GBR.

 

On March 17, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada approved the appointment of Iryna Venediktova as prosecutor general. "269 MPs voted "for", 38 voted "against", and 47 abstained.
