Russian invasion of Ukraine kills 3,942 civilians - UN

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has already resulted in 3,942 civilian deaths. This is reported in the report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

 

"From 4:00 a.m. on February 24, 2022, when the armed attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine began, until midnight (local time) on May 23, 2022, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN OHCHR) recorded 8,533 civilian casualties: 3,942 dead and 4,591 wounded," the report said.

 

According to the UN, the victims included 1,489 men, 976 women, 90 girls and 99 boys, as well as 69 children and 1,219 adults of an as yet unknown gender.

 

Injured: 908 men, 603 women, 107 girls, 128 boys, as well as 164 children and 2,681 adults whose gender is unknown.

 

As noted, most people were killed by wide-area explosive weapons - heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, rockets and air strikes.
