UN: Russian actions in Ukraine may be recognized as war crimes

Ukraine is collecting testimony and evidence of violations committed during the Russian invasion. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is doing this to investigate them for war crimes.

This is reported by Ukrinform.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council, High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet made a statement that the commission continues to verify allegations of violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. Based on Russia's attack on Ukraine, many of the violations mentioned in the statements can be considered war crimes.

This refers to numerous cases of civilian deaths, in particular due to attacks on a hospital, the Drama Theater in Mariupol, the train station in Kramatorsk, residential areas in Odesa, etc. As the commissioner noted, the majority of civilian deaths in Ukraine were caused by heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, missile and air strikes.
