Turkey suggests holding a meeting between Putin and Zelensky in the coming days

Turkey hopes that at the suggestion of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan it will be possible to hold a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said this after the "Meeting of the Consultative Group on Defense and Security for Ukraine," which was held at the NATO air defense base in Ramstein in Germany, reports UP

"We had a position that we put forward at the ministerial level and our president. At the beginning of the crisis, we did very serious and comprehensive studies to prevent war and ensure a cease-fire. Our president met many times with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelensky. Although there are some difficulties, we hope that with our president's suggestions, perhaps the two leaders will be able to get together in the coming days," he said.

The minister stressed that Turkey continues to do its part, including mediation, in making sure the humanitarian situation does not deteriorate and a cease-fire is reached as soon as possible.
