On January 31, 2022, on the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, a meeting of Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov and Polish President Andrzej Adamczyk was held in the presence of the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and State Secretary of the Office of the Polish President - Head of the International Policy Bureau Jakub Kumoch, reported the Official Internet Representation of the Ukrainian President.
As a result of the meeting, the text of a joint statement was agreed upon. It is noted that, among other things, the parties agreed on the soonest abolition of restrictions on the transit of freight wagons through the territory of Ukraine to Poland by rail.
Also there was discussed a significant increase in the number of permits for international cargo haulage, taking into account the needs of Ukrainian and Polish automobile carriers.
It is also noted that Ukraine and Poland have agreed to work out a joint action plan, aimed at considerable increase of the efficiency of the road international checkpoints of the Republic of Poland and Ukraine. The corresponding action plan is to be agreed upon with the participation of representatives of customs, border and other services of the parties no later than the end of February 2022.
Also at the meeting agreed to initiate a review of the provisions of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland on international road transportations since 1992.
The parties also noted the interest of Polish oil and gas companies PGNiG and PKN Orlen in investing in the Ukrainian oil and gas sector and agreed to promote their cooperation with Naftogaz of Ukraine in this area. For its part, KGHM expressed its readiness to begin negotiations on the joint development of non-ferrous metal deposits.
