For two years almost 14 thousand kilometers of roads have been built and repaired within the framework of the Presidential programme "Big Build". This was discussed during the all-Ukrainian forum "Big construction: roads and bridges" with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

The head of the state noted that the authorities have stopped thinking in terms of one budget year, changed the approach to public investment, procurement and pricing, united different teams and agencies around long-term goals, were able to attract state and international funds, improve the quality and even reduce the cost of building a kilometer. roads, reports Government Portal.

"And the result is almost 14,000 kilometers of roads in two years of the Big Build program. More than 40% of the main network of roads in Ukraine, which connect large and small cities, all important Ukrainian regions have been updated and built," - said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The prime minister noted that in total, more than $10 billion was spent on road and bridge infrastructure during 2020-2021.

"These are not just numbers. Each hryvnia invested in infrastructure projects gives a multiplier of 2 to 6.5 hryvnia of income in other sectors. We are not going to slow down in 2022. More than 140 billion UAH has already been budgeted for further development of the infrastructure, "- Denis Shmygal said.

Head of the Government stressed that in addition to public funds for the development of infrastructure projects the funds of international partners were attracted, and the next stage - the funds of businesses on terms of public-private partnership and concession.

"Implementation of the first concession autobahn "Krakivets - Brody - Rivne" is to start next year. This is a landmark step for Ukraine, because the business funds will give an additional boost to the development of transit and tourist potential," - said Prime Minister.

As Denis Shmygal noted, another project of the concession autobahn will be the road "Stryi - Mukachevo", for which investors are already competing.
