Kyiv: The National Assembly of Venezuela will elect a new composition of the National Electoral Council (NEC), which will work to ensure the holding of elections in the country. This was announced by MP Juan Pablo Guanipa.
"It is important to announce that tomorrow (February 5 - ed.) the National Assembly will create a special committee to elect a new NEC," said Guanipa.
According to him, this body will have to allow the registration of new voters and work to ensure that new elections are held in Venezuela as soon as possible.
The Venezuelan opposition, which controls the parliament, believes that the current composition of the NEC fully supports President Nicolas Maduro and cannot ensure the organization of "free and transparent voting."
