Colombo-Kyiv: The Sri Lanka Navy, together with local residents, helped 20 whales to return to deep water. This was stated in the AFP comment by the Speaker of the Navy Shamida Valakunga.
"We pushed them back with great care, so as not to cause them harm. However, everyone was very happy when they were all sent back to the deep waters, "said Valakunga.
20 whales fled to the northeast coast of Sri Lanka near the port of Trincomalee. Researchers attribute this to the influence of Cyclon Mora, which was recorded in Bangladesh on 30th of May.
On 26th of May, due to heavy rains on the island of Sri Lanka, the water level increased, which led to a flood. According to the latest information, more than 200 deaths and 96 missing persons were recorded.
