Moscow:
Today, October 19, the working visit of Secretary General of the Council of
Europe Thorbjørn Jagland to Russia. He will stay in the country for two days.
"During
the talks it is planned to discuss a wide range of issues of Russia's
participation in the activities of the Council of Europe. The dialogue with the
Secretary General of the Council of Europe on the current problems of the
European agenda will continue, "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Russian Federation reported.
During the
visit, Jagland plans to hold meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey
Lavrov, Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Federation Council
Chairman Valentina Matvienko and RF Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova.
They also
noted that they support the development of the Council of Europe as one of the
authoritative international organizations of the continent.
