Kyiv: Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko commented on the recent detention of officials from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry for corruption, saying that he would chop off his hands for this.
"I will not allow anyone to steal in the army. Those who will steal in the army - I cut off my hands. This is my position. I welcome, when any suspicion of corruption is transferred to law enforcement agencies. The investigation should be conducted as soon as possible, submitted to the public and sent to the court. It's to blame - it will incur responsibility, "Poroshenko said.
Yesterday, October 11, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office exposed the corruption scheme with embezzlement of public funds in the amount of more than 149 million hryvnias with the purchase of fuel for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as a result of which the deputy minister and director of a department of the Ministry of Defense was detained.
