Hanoi: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Suan Fuk.
"Elmar Mammadyarov said that 2017 is significant for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and stressed that within the framework of his official visit to the conference negotiations were held on the prospects of Azerbaijani-Vietnamese relations," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan informed his colleague about the transport corridor "North-South", which is implemented with the initiative and direct participation of Azerbaijan, and noted that Azerbaijan can also provide transport communication between Vietnam and Europe. In addition, he noted that this corridor can offer favorable opportunities for the export of Vietnamese products to the European market.
According to the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Vietnam does not correspond to the current potential and stressed the importance of further development of bilateral economic relations between the two countries. He also said that the Vietnamese market is open to the petrochemical industry of Azerbaijan. At the meeting, the sides also discussed the export of Vietnamese products to the Azerbaijani market.
On Monday, September 11, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed support for the idea of a settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
