Emmanuel Macron may resign as president of France amid his party's failure in the European Parliament elections. This was reported by Europe 1 with reference to sources close to Macron.

According to them, the French president and his entourage are seriously discussing this option in order to improve his party's chances in the elections through their "dramatization" - "to show that he made a bold decision.” 

"The resignation of the president is not a taboo. Yes, today we have to foresee all scenarios. He is ready to sacrifice the end of his five-year term,” says one of the people close to the president (in case of resignation, Macron will not be able to run for president again, as this is his second term).
