Ukrainian Ministry of Energy warns about manipulative content of Financial Times article

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine notes that the Financial Times article titled “Russia has taken out over half of Ukraine power generation” contains signs of an informational and psychological operation and a manipulative nature.

The Ministry of Energy points to the use of anonymous sources of the Ukrainian government, which casts doubt on the reliability of the information provided.

In particular, an unnamed representative of the Ukrainian authorities in the article states the need to prepare for “life in the cold and darkness”, which is aimed at spreading fear and panic.

The Ministry of Energy also points to false information that is presented as fact, in particular, about the increase in electricity tariffs.

The article combines true and false information and appeals to the reader's emotions.

The Ministry urges not to spread false narratives and disinformation, to trust only official sources of information and to refrain from speculation on the sensitive topic of energy.

Earlier, we reported that the Ukrainian authorities raised the electricity tariff to provide funding for the restoration of the power system after massive shelling. This information was reported by the Financial Times.
