Ukraine will probably not become a NATO member within the next 30 years. This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a conversation with Berlin residents.
“One of the reasons given for the war (by Putin - Ed.) at that time was that Ukraine was allegedly joining NATO. You know the decision - it is not expected in the near future. Probably not in the next 30 years. I even said it publicly,” Scholz said, recalling his visit to Moscow in early 2022.
At a rally with voters in Berlin, the chancellor recalled that he had spoken about this, among other things, in Kyiv two and a half years ago, and “it was clear to everyone.”
It is worth noting that in 2019, Ukraine amended its Constitution to include accession to the EU and NATO as a strategic goal.
