Russia may soon launch an offensive near Sumy - Budanov

Russia may soon launch an offensive near Sumy. This was stated by the head of the GUR Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with The New York Times.

“The situation is on the brink. Every hour this situation is getting closer to critical,” Budanov told reporters in the Kharkiv bunker.

He believes that over the next few days, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to stabilize the front near Kharkiv, and the Russian offensive will last for about three to four more days. But after that, the Russian military may launch a new offensive in the Sumy region.

At the same time, he claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no reserves left.

“All our troops are either here or in Chasiv Yar. I have used everything we have. Unfortunately, we have no one left in reserve,” said the head of the GUR.

He agrees with the estimates that Russia is stretching the already exhausted forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Kharkiv. And also tries to “sow panic and confusion in the region.”

“At the moment, our task is to stabilize the line and then start pushing them back across the border,” he said, adding that the influx of Ukrainian reserves has managed to “partially disrupt their plans.”
