The Pentagon and SpaceX have blocked the unauthorized use of Starlink Internet terminals by Russians on the battlefield. This was announced by Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy John Plumb, Bloomberg reports.
According to him, the Pentagon was actively involved in working with the Ukrainian government and SpaceX to counter the illegal use of Starlink terminals by Russian troops.
“So far, we have successfully countered Russia's use, but I am sure that Moscow will continue to try to find ways to use Starlink and other commercial communications systems. It will continue to be a problem,” said John Plumb.
Earlier, in February 2024, Ukrainian intelligence said that the Russians were also using Starlink at the front. The intelligence service reported that Russia buys Starlink in Arab countries. Meanwhile, Bloomberg wrote that Starlink can be bought on black markets around the world, and this is a systemic global problem.
