Despite regular artillery and aviation shelling of the city of Chasiv Yar, which is being stormed by Russian troops, 680 people still live there. This was stated by the head of the Chasiv Yar City Military Administration, Serhii Chaus, during a telethon.

“There are no occupants on the territory of the community. However, residents still remain in the city. In particular, 680 people live on the territory of the Chasiv Yar community... Most of them are elderly people,” Chaus emphasized.

The head of the CMA said that it is still possible for residents to evacuate the city.

“We also constantly go to the city with humanitarian aid. So there is still an opportunity for citizens to evacuate,” he said.

It is worth noting that the battle for Chasiv Yar is of strategic importance for both sides. If the Russian Armed Forces capture the city, they will take over the dominant heights and gain fire control over four densely populated cities in Donetsk region - Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
