In an interview with NBC News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia seeks to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9.
"Russia wants to mobilize 300,000 soldiers by June 1. We are preparing for this. By May 9, Russia expects to take Chasiv Yar in the east of Ukraine... I expect that we will withstand, that weapons will arrive on time, and we will be able to repel the enemy, and then break Russia's plans for full-scale counteroffensive actions in June," Zelensky said.
The Head of State emphasized that the Ukrainian military holding positions in this direction lack the necessary weapons. Therefore, he is counting on assistance from the United States.
"I have recently been in the region and talked to the soldiers. The soldiers lack the equipment to fight Russian reconnaissance drones that adjust Russian artillery fire, and they also lack artillery shells," he added.
