Greece intends to take an active part in the post-war reconstruction efforts in Ukraine and is willing to make its contribution. This was stated by Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis at the opening of the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, the press service of the Greek Foreign Ministry reports.
"Many companies and institutions with accumulated experience and comparative advantages in the field of reconstruction and recovery are actively working in our country. These sectors include energy infrastructure, shipping, digitalization, construction, cultural heritage protection, agriculture, tourism, and many other sectors," he said.
According to the Minister, the mobilization of the Greek business community and public sector to participate in Ukraine's recovery will also make a significant contribution to the use of opportunities that will soon be available through the flow of significant EU funds.
Gerapetritis emphasized that from the first day of the war in Ukraine, Greece has taken a clear principled position.
"Greece fully supported Ukraine, it stood firmly on the side of international law against any unprovoked attack, against any violation of sovereignty, against any tendency to revisionism. We stand in solidarity with the country that was attacked and will support Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty," he said.
The minister noted that citizens of Greek origin have lived peacefully on the shores of the Black Sea for centuries, so "no one forgets about the crimes in Mariupol."
"A city with a Greek name and a significant population of Greek origin, just as we do not forget the battles and losses in Odesa. Russia's military offensive in Ukraine is not only a threat to the security of Europe. It endangers peace and stability in the entire world, in flagrant violation of the UN Charter and established norms of international law," he said.
