British intelligence calculates the number of lost Russian equipment in Ukraine: more than 2500 tanks and 4900 armored personnel carriers

From the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine until January 25, 2024, Russian ground forces lost 2,600 main battle tanks and 4,900 other armored personnel carriers in Ukraine, British intelligence reports on social network X.

It is noted that the Russian army lost about 40% less equipment in 2023 than in 2022. Analysts said that this is likely due to the fact that the war has become more positional, and Russian troops spent a significant part of the year in a defensive position.

Since October 2023, when the Russians intensified their offensive in the eastern direction, their losses in armored vehicles have begun to increase. During this period, Russian troops lost up to 365 main battle tanks and 700 armored combat vehicles, but made only minor progress.

"However, Russia is likely to produce at least 100 main battle tanks per month, and therefore retains the ability to replace losses on the battlefield and continue offensive activity at this level in the near future," the report said.
