Blinken on the situation in Ukraine: I don't see any approach to negotiations at the moment

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said he does not see a ceasefire in Ukraine coming soon, as Russia is not ready for good faith negotiations. He expressed this opinion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, The Guardian reports.

When asked if he now sees an approach to negotiations to achieve an end to the war in Ukraine Blinken said: "I don't see it at the moment."

"We are always open to it, attentive to it, because the Ukrainian people want it more than anyone else. But there must be a willingness on the part of Russia to participate, to negotiate in good faith, based on the basic principles that have been called into question as a result of its aggression: territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence," the politician emphasized.

Blinken noted that Putin is ready to continue to drag "his young people into the meat grinder that he himself has created to try to advance his interests."

"This is a deep tragedy for Russia," Blinken said.
