French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to meet with him in Paris later this week to find a compromise on the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. This was reported by Politico.
A source in Paris claims that Macron hopes to convince the Hungarian leader to support this process, despite his previous demands for increased financial support from the EU.
According to the official, this meeting is a tactical opportunity to reach an agreement.
In this regard, it is reported that European Council President Charles Michel will shorten his trip to Beijing because of Orban's threats to disrupt the December 14-15 summit of EU leaders.
