British intelligence: Russia controls most of Maryinka

In recent weeks, Russian troops have been gradually advancing through the ruins of Maryinka in Donetsk region. The Russian army is now likely to control most of the built-up area. This was reported by British intelligence on the social network X.

The British Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukrainian troops continue to control areas on the western outskirts of Maryinka.

Maryinka has been on the front line since 2014. Before the war, its population was 9,000. According to British intelligence, it is now completely destroyed: drone footage shows that the vast majority of buildings have been turned into ruins.

"The resumption of Russian actions in Maryinka is part of Russia's autumn offensive, the priority of which is to expand Russia's control over the rest of the Donetsk region. It is quite likely that this is still one of the Kremlin's main military objectives," the agency noted.
