Strike in Donetsk region: many wounded, people under rubble (UPDATED)

Russian troops simultaneously attacked Pokrovsk district of Donbas with six S-300 missiles at night, hitting Pokrovsk, Novohrodivka and Myrnohrad. As a result of the shelling, 10 people were injured, including 4 children, and five more people are being searched for under the rubble, the National Police reported on Thursday morning.


"Pokrovsk: among the victims is a family with two children: A 16-year-old boy and a 6-month-old baby. A 13-year-old boy was also injured. An apartment building and 9 private houses, a police station, cars and garages were damaged. One of the shells exploded in the yard of a house where a family with two children lived. The shelling destroyed the roof and walls of the house, and the family was trapped under the rubble. A police paramedic helped a man with a bloody baby in his arms get out from under the rubble. After examining the boy, the policeman wrapped him up and quickly took him to the hospital. There is no threat to the life of six-month-old Ilay," the statement said.


According to the National Police, a 13-year-old child was wounded in Novohradivka as a result of a rocket hitting a multi-story building.


"Currently, police and rescuers continue to work at the site of the missile strike. There may be 5 more people under the rubble, including a child," the agency said.


The report also says that the Russians fired two S-300 missiles at Myrnohrad, and the police department was destroyed.


"The State Emergency Service and the police have been working at the hit sites all night. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, police are documenting the consequences of Russian strikes," the statement said.

In Novohrodivka, Donetsk region, the body of the first victim was pulled from the rubble of a house, the State Emergency Service reports. It is a 61-year-old man. There may still be people under the rubble, and the rescue operation after the missile attack on the high-rise building continues.
