The National Agency on Corruption Prevention has added one of the world's largest manufacturers of building materials, the German company Knauf, to the list of international sponsors of war. This was reported by the NACP press service.
It is noted that in 2022 alone, Knauf paid about $117 million to the budget of the Russian terrorist state. In addition, the German company actively promotes mobilization in Russia by sending its employees to the war against Ukraine.
"In total, since 1993, Knauf has invested more than 1.65 billion euros in the Russian economy. The company is represented in Russia by ten subsidiaries, twenty plants and almost thirty resource centers. The German building materials manufacturer employs 4,000 people in Russia. Today, Knauf is the largest German investor in the construction industry in Russia," the NACP said.
In addition, Knauf has powerful facilities for the production of acoustic ceiling tiles and suspension systems in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (Tatarstan), where the Russian production of Shahed-136 UAVs is organized.
"The owner of the company, Nikolaus Wilhelm Knauf, had the status of Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation for 23 years (from February 1999 to March 2022) with a representative office with the powers of the Honorary Consulate in Nuremberg," the NACP emphasized.
They added that after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Knauf officially made it clear that it saw no reason to leave the aggressor's market.
