Ombudsman appeals to law enforcement due to Iryna Farion's statements about Russian-speaking military

Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets personally appealed to the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting over the scandalous statement by linguist and former MP Iryna Farion about Russian-speaking military. He wrote about this on Telegram.

The Ombudsman stated that the former MP's statement was a violation of the law on equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds (Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He emphasized that men and women from different groups of society, national communities, different religions, beliefs and places of residence serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Lubinets also called on public figures to be conscious of the ideas and views they broadcast.

"Discrimination and discrediting anyone is prohibited in Ukraine!" he wrote.

As we reported earlier, Iryna Farion said that she "cannot call" the soldiers of the "Azov" regiment who do not speak Ukrainian Ukrainians. According to her, the defenders should call themselves "Russians".
