The earthquake in Iran injured 239 people

The number of victims in Iran as a result of an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 has reached 239 people, reports Xinhua.

 

 According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the earthquake occurred near Khoi District in West Azerbaijan Province at 06:46 local time. The fire was at a depth of 8 km.

 

 Among the injured, 50 people were from Khoi district, the rest from Salmas district, reports ISNA with reference to the head of the Iranian Aid and Rescue Organization, Sadek Mahmoudi.

 

 Mahmoudi added that 219 people were discharged from medical centers after receiving treatment. At the same time, 20 people, including seven from Khoi and 13 from Salmas, were hospitalized.

 

 He also stated that tents and blankets were provided to the residents of the earthquake-affected areas.

 

 As the general director of the housing fund of West Azerbaijan Jafar Barzegar reported on Friday, as a result of the earthquake, 80 housing units in 10 villages, in districts such as Salmas and Khoi, were damaged.
