Queen Elizabeth cancels traditional reception at Scottish castle

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II canceled a traditional reception at Balmoral Castle, which has caused new concerns about her health. This is reported by the Mirror.

As the Mirror notes, the queen usually meets her admirers at Balmoral Gate to celebrate the start of her annual summer vacation at the Scottish estate, but tomorrow's ceremony has been canceled and replaced with a "small private event." This comes amid heightened concerns about the 96-year-old queen's health due to her occasional mobility problems.

"The traditional reception at Balmoral is usually fixed in the Queen's calendar, and she does enjoy welcoming locals who come to see her. It's a bitter disappointment that the ceremony won't take place in her traditional form," the royal expert noted.

Normally, Elizabeth II would see the Balmoral Honor Guard of the 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, but this year the monarch, who is Commander in Chief of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, will attend a private event in the glades of Balmoral within the castle. No TV cameras or reporters are expected at the event.

Buckingham Palace had previously reported that Queen Elizabeth would not attend Friday's thanksgiving service, seven decades into her reign, after she experienced some travel discomfort when she appeared at the military parade.
