Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the geography of the tasks of the so-called "special operation" in Ukraine has changed and has allegedly gone beyond the borders of the "DNR" and "LNR".
This was reported by RIA Novosti.
Lavrov said that the Russian army has now been tasked to "demilitarize" the south of Ukraine as well.
"Now the geography is different. It is not only the "DNR" and "LNR," it is also the Kherson region, the Zaporizhzhia region and a number of other territories, and this process continues, and continues consistently and persistently," the Russian foreign minister said.
Lavrov also once again threatened the West over deliveries of weapons to Ukraine, in particular HIMARS missile launchers. According to him, the "special operation" may expand even further if the AFU receives long-range weapons.
"Because we cannot allow the part of Ukraine that will be controlled by Zelensky or whoever replaces him to have weapons that will pose a direct threat to our territory," Lavrov added.
Also earlier Lavrov said that a nuclear war allegedly cannot be unleashed by Russia. Since there would be no winners in it.
Lavrov said this in an interview with RT.
"We have been the initiators of none of the statements - both Russian-American and permanent members of the UN Security Council - that there can be no winner in a nuclear war and that it can never be unleashed. This is Russia's position, which it will stand on very firmly," Lavrov said.
Lavrov also said that the United States and Great Britain allegedly want to "push Russia against Europe" by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
