President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Norway to provide Ukraine with anti-ship weapons and anti-aircraft systems to protect the freedom and security of Ukrainians and all Europeans, he said in an address to the Norwegian parliament.
"Freedom must be armed no worse than tyranny. I will be very specific within the walls, within your walls. Believe me, we are losing specific people, specific cities are collapsing. So I want to name clearly what we need. Specifically, anti-ship weapons - HARPUN missiles, and anti-air systems - NASAMS. In addition we need the means to destroy armored vehicles and artillery systems," the head of state said.
He thanked Norway for the "tangible support" already provided to Ukraine, including assistance with weapons, but stressed that the war continues and that Russia is transferring new forces to Ukrainian soil in order to continue destroying Ukrainians.
According to him, convoys of Russian armored vehicles are not dwindling, although Ukrainian defenders have already destroyed more Russian tanks and other combat vehicles than Moscow has lost in any war in the past 50 years.
"All the weapons you can help us with will only be used to protect our freedom, your freedom. Only to protect the freedom and security that you enjoy with other Europeans," Zelensky assured.
The president said that Russian missiles and air bombs hit Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure every day and every night, there are no off-limits targets for Russian troops, and they attack everything from hospitals to airports, from food warehouses to residential neighborhoods.
