Russia should withdraw its troops from Ukraine before signing the treaty - Arahamia

The Russian Federation must completely withdraw its troops from Ukraine when the negotiators reach a conditional signing of a peace treaty. Or when it can already be seriously discussed.

This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations, David Arahamia, in an interview with the media.

According to him, during the talks with the Russian delegation the latter confirmed that it would move within the framework of the Vienna Convention. According to this document, if an agreement is signed under pressure, it is null and void.

"When we come to the conditional signing of the treaty or the moment when it can already be seriously discussed, they will have to leave completely. And then we will already sit down to sign, visa or initialling it," he said.

He also stressed that this is an international fuse to ensure a working signing of a peace treaty. Arahamia specified that the issue is about the withdrawal of the troops on the line on February 23, 2022.

David Arahamia also noted that at the first peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian side handed over the surrender treaty. It will be preserved for the museum of victory history.

"I kept the original positions on purpose, they handed us these ultimatums and the surrender treaty - I have it preserved for the museum of the history of our victory. I have that copy waiting for its time," he said.

According to his owls, the positions of the parties at the negotiations directly correlate with the positions at the front, and the Ukrainian delegation expects the positions to improve.

We shall remind you that yesterday the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul.
